Curved laminated birch ply with LED portholes RIBA Award

The Tonkin Liu Architects Sun Rain Room required a 1:1 scale template to hold the shape temporarily, all constructed onsite from 14 layers of 6mm birch plywood, allowing cable runs for LED and insulation inside the build. Finally the former ( template ) was taken away to reveal the elliptical shapes and patterns created.

Green roof, worktop, and storage area behind full height glass sliding doors were also created as a part of the project.
