A massive thanks to Dransfield architects for commissioning this work. For conservation purposes, this 17th-century grain store, after making an account of joints and connections, was recreated in sawn oak, piece by piece, with all the old methods, all draw bored mortice, and tenons pegged together.
We managed to splice in an air-dried oak timber to the existing 400-year-old tie beam with huge dovetails on each end.
One of my favourite projects to date.
